GIOVANA ZUCCARINO

The artist photographer Giovana Zuccarino studied geology at the University of Buenos Aires. She explores the characteristics of light and the materiality of photographic tools, making use of 19th-century techniques, or even those of the pre-photographic era of the previous century. She builds her own optical instruments such as telescopes, a sun-recording device, a coelostat, a camera obscura and microscopes. More or less once a week, she meets up with her colleagues at the observatory of the Asociación Argentina Amigos de la Astronomía to exchange information and engage in new research. Furthermore the observatory itself is an Art Deco masterpiece. *1982, lives and works in Buenos Aires
