ENRIQUE FONTANILLES

Mankind’s contempt for our planet and our peers are the core concerns in Enrique Fontanilles’ work and visual experimentation. He is interested in our economy’s relentless quest to achieve monopoly control in every aspect of the organization of our lives. The resulting impoverishment of individual skills and capacity for autonomy constitute the basic theme underlying the contents and formal structures of his multimedia pieces. His work revolves in general around photography but he is ready to take up any medium necessary. His especially critical attitude toward the contemporary art world has led him to avoid working with galleries and participating in art fairs, which he considers a laboratory for high finance as it moves towards the conquest of humanism’s last bastion. *1951, lives and works on Planet Earth
